Stunning Sapphire!

Why hello there! It looks like some people have stumbled onto my blog :) Feel free to leave comments about anything.. suggestions, critiques.. or just to say hi. I'm not easily offended and I like to meet new people :)

Ah sapphire.. my favourite colour! Though I may be biased... it is my birthstone after all :)
I couldn't resist buying sapphire coloured beads on my last order. Though they looked a bit lighter on the website than in person, I'm so happy with them!! I actually ordered the light sapphire colour and now I'm pondering ordering the darker shades. At first I preferred transparent beads to the silver-lined ones but... i think now i'm hooked!!

So pretty!!
And I just couldn't stop working with them... I made enough beaded jumprings to complete a pair of earrings and a pendant style necklace!!
so fun!
Well I haven't completed/posted the earrings yet as I don't have any ear wires on hand. So... off to the beadstore!! :) That ginko leaf dish I used to display the necklace was a great find at Pier 1. I love that store!!

It's funny how I mostly post so late at night. When I come home from work I play with beads and watch netflix until I can't see anymore or have completed the project and shown it off on etsy/facebook/here. Today while completing these I started watching Charmed. I only saw a few episodes back when they were first on TV and enjoyed it then. I made it to episode 3 tonight and while it's cheesier than I remember, I'm still enjoying it.

I'm on a roll!

well... I've been so excited to play with my new shinies that I've gotten 2 more bracelets finished :) The first one is my new favourite.. the beads are orange and amethyst two-toned and WOW they look so neat! In different lighting the orange part looks more amber.

And for this next bracelet I've used the orange beads from Michaels that I had posted about the other day.
I love how vibrant the orange is, it's more of a tangerine colour! which.. just so happens to be 2012's colour of the year :)

So I've got a few things to work on now. There's a possibility I could set up a booth for Canada Day.. though it's a month away I honestly don't know if I'd have the time to make enough bracelets to make it worth going.  We'll have to see!
The other thing I need to work on is my photography skills. hahahahaha! Well, I at least need to take some time and sort out proper lighting so the images aren't so dark. I'm usually so excited after I've finished a piece that I just want to take the pic and get it online as quick as possible. I'm sure that will wear off soon enough.

hurray for new shinies!!

Ok so my order from Shipwreckedbeads.com came yesterday just before I was heading off to work! After work I had dinner at my parents and cheered on Phillip Phillips on American Idol! :)
Today was my day off so I had tons of fun going through the order and putting stuff away.

Here's some of my new stash! Ruby/Jonquil and Orange/Amethyst two-toned beads, flower toggles, and a turtle charm! I also received some jump rings in silver, copper, and antiqued copper. Oh and I also received some lucite flowers I forgot to photograph... but hopefully you'll see them in a pretty piece soon!

Of course after putting everything away I couldn't resist but jump right in!!
Here's the Listing on Etsy!
I love how the two-toned beads look! funnily enough these are the same beads pictured above that look more like fire. But when I put them on the brass jump rings.. the ruby turned into an amethyst colour. haha! oh well, it's still very pretty!

Well that wasn't such a good idea..

So yesterday I mini-adventured over to Nanaimo and was super excited to go on a Michael's shopping spree. I was nervous because I told myself I could only spend the $$ I've made so far.. not from my own pocket so I was worried that it would be a difficult shop. Turns out that Michael's was the wrong choice for me as they really didn't have anything I wanted. bummer! I ended up buying 2 organizers for beads (totally needed), one package of orange 6/0 beads which will make a few gorgeous bracelets, and a sea turtle charm because I love turtles and want to make myself a necklace :)

I couldn't find any jumprings.. except for the standard small packages. I thought they might have carried various aluminum rings but I guess they don't. I was also hugely disappointed in their bead selection. Ah well, next time I head down that way I'll do my proper research and look for a bead store! :)

After Nanaimo my sister and I stopped in Coombs for a bit. I love the Country Market! :) We've been going there since we were little and it's still a treat. I did find some more beads at one of the little shops.

Here's a pic of my bead haul (ok more like a small sample):

transparent peach, silver lined orange, transparent pale yellow, and silver lined bright yellow. I'm not a huge fan of yellow or orange so I've made a challenge for myself!

My little Shopping spree!

Ok so I haven't sold anything on Etsy yet... but I've been making sales locally! My co-workers (ex-co-workers.. tear) have been so supportive of my new venture!! So I've got some cash and I've been really good at keeping it away from my own money. I placed an order with Shipwreck Beads and I am so excited to get it. I've ordered some jumprings and a few beads in some fun colours I can't wait to try out!

Yesterday I ran into Walmart to get some more organizers. Of course I checked out their bead section and they had hanks of beads on sale! Woohoo! So I grabbed some in pretty colours...

The pinky one and the grey one have a bit of a rainbow or iridescent finish. the clear beads are also iridescent. I'm actually really excited about the brown ones because they are a rootbeer colour and I could combine them with a frosted white and make a 'rootbeer float' bracelet  :)

Anyway I'm not done with my shopping spree just yet. I'm about to head down to Nanaimo and while I'm there of course I'll be stopping into Michaels!! Yay! I think it's a very good thing we don't have one here in town.. hahaha!

Hello!

Hello there! I have created this blog for my Etsy shop, as a place where I can ramble on about new listing, creating, and general whatsits. I hope in the future if I have enough followers I can start doing contests and fun things like that. I'm not really sure what else to say so I suppose I'll say a little bit about myself.

Hi! I go by the nickname Dani and I've been an avid crafter probably from the first time I held a crayon. I've dabbled in many crafty things such as cross-stitch, scrapbooking, card-making, my little pony customization, and now i've been getting into beading and chainmaille. I started my Etsy shop because it was a great excuse to be making things, and a little cash is always nice! While I haven't made a sale on the site yet, I've sold 6 bracelets to co-workers and family which has given me great encouragement to keep going! I'm a pharmacy technician by day, and a WoW-addict by night and somehow squeezing in some time to watch Red Dwarf and bead to my heart's content! :)

So please help me out by following me here and on facebook and liking my stuff, and I promise to be as entertaining as I can :)
